Tata Motors has put on display its Tiago hatchback at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The car will first be launched in India by the middle of the year before a being launched in certain European markets by the end of this year.
The Tiago, originally dubbed the Zica, was unveiled in 2015 and then showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. It makes use of the Indian automaker’s new Impact Design language and will replace the Indica hatchback in Tata’s passenger vehicle lineup. The car showcased at Geneva was a fully accessoried variant with things like fancy alloy wheels, decals, roof mounted contrast coloured spoiler and beefier bumpers.
It will be offered with the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and the 1.0-litre Revotorq diesel engine. Both engines will be offered with a five-speed manual while the latter may also get the option of an AMT which will launch at a later date.
When launched, the Tiago will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Celerio as well as the Chevrolet Beat in the A+ segment of the Indian market.
