Mahindra may have put heavy focus on electric mobility solutions (Read: e20 Sport, Verito Electric and GenZe) at the 2016 Auto Expo, but there is no denying that the brand is also exploring its designing capabilities by venturing into bold new body styles; case in point being the all new XUV Aero concept shown recently at the Expo.

      What is it?
Designed in-house at the Mahindra Design Studio in Kandivali, Mumbai, the XUV Aero is a result of Mahindra boldly challenging the controversial coupe crossover body style. The XUV 500 inspired fascia may look familiar but from thereon, the design is different all together. The side profile is flanked by the massive alloys and the BMW X6-like sloping roofline which merges onto the boot-lid.

As for firepower, the XUV Aero gets a fruiter version of the existing mHawk diesel engine and as a result, it makes 210bhp of power and allows the show car to accelerate from 0-60kmph in under 6 seconds.

      Is it special?
While we aren’t too sure about that, you have got to give it to Mahindra for experimenting with such a body style. The XUV Aero is certainly a bold looking concept that could pave way for a new line of coupe crossovers at the budget end of the market

      When is it coming?
The XUV Aero is in concept form for now; however, Mahindra is keen on gauging the viewers’ response and accordingly, decide whether to put it into production or not.
