Japanese automaker Honda has been a popular brand in the Indian market. Its entry level model Brio has found a decent amount of takers in the country. The new facelift model has been spotted on numerous occasions and is likely to be introduced in the Indonesian market soon. During private conference at the Auto Expo, Mr. Raman Kumar Sharma, Senior Vice President and Director, Honda Siel Cars ltd revealed that the company has no plans yet to introduce the new Brio in India anytime soon.

The diesel variant comes with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that generates about 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The vehicle would be offered with 5-speed automatic transmission.

The interaction also revealed that the company would be introducing a petrol-based Accord hybrid in the country down the line. When questioned on plans for standardizing safety equipment like airbags and ABS with EBD across models, he indicated that the products new-gen models maybe offered with it down the line. As for CNG options, the company has not been using it on a larger scale owing to lack in proper infrastructure support across cities where it available.

If the new Brio hatchback makes it to India, it would be offered with 1.2-Litre petrol engine option and if at-all a diesel is introduced it could be a 1.1-Litre engine based on the company's i-DTEC line. Apart from a new body shell design, it could also be offered with new set of interesting features. Apart from manual, the next-gen model might also be blessed with automatic option.
