      2016 Auto Expo: Everything you need to know

      The 2016 Indian Auto Expo-The Motor Show is just two months away. Yesterday, the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) held a meeting with the media to announce the Expo and here are all the details.

      When and where?

      It will be held from February 5th to February 9th at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, New Delhi. The press/media preview days will on February 3rd and 4th. There will also be the components exhibition at the Pragati Madian which will be held from February 4th to February 7th.

      What are the timings and where can I get tickets?

      The venue will be open from 1 PM to six PM on Feb 5th and Feb 8th while on Feb 6th and 7th (the weekend) it will be open from 10 AM to 7 PM. On the final day, Feb 9th, the venue will be open from 1 PM to 5 PM. Tickets sales for the Expo have already begun and can be purchased from BookMyShow.

      The ticket for the weekdays has been priced at Rs 300 while the tickets for the weekend days are priced at Rs 400. Those looking to go during the business hours (only on 5th, 8th and 9th) will have to pay Rs 650 and the registration process is different.

      Visitors will also have the option of downloading a mobile app which will provide them with all the details of the venues and other tidbits like food stalls, locations of toilets and prices.

      How do I reach the venue from the NCR?

      The closest metro station to the venue is the Noida City Centre which is the terminal station of the route. The organisers are running 160 CNG powered buses will run from the station to the venue, entailing a travel time of 26 minutes to 30 minutes. They will also be running a free bus service from Pragati Maidan and Noida Botanical Garden Metro Station.

      There will also be temporary auto and taxi stands near the venue to ferry visitors during the public days. Further, a temporary toll counter is being setup near the venue to facilitate easy movement of traffic that would otherwise have to go to Sector 32 of Noida to pay the toll.

      Who can I expect at the venue?

      All the major Indian manufacturers of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers will present at the venue which has now been expanded from 62,000sqmt to 68,000sqmt. However, Bajaj, Skoda Auto, Volvo and Harley Davidson will not be present at the exhibition.

      What else will take places apart from the display of awesome cars?

      Apart from the actual exhibition and the components show, there will also be the 8th edition of the automotive design challenge, 10th edition of the style and design challenge, sixth edition of the auto trade dialogue a workshop on bio fuels and the 9th auto summit FADA. There will also focussed pavilions of garage equipment, innovation and bearings. In addition there will also be a display of vintage cars, driving and riding simulators and insurance stalls.

      I’ll be walking a lot and am sure to get hungry? What about food and something to drink?

      The venue will have food stall spread out across all areas so that a quick bite is never more than a few minutes away. Taj and Radissons will running two restaurants while all major food chains will have stalls all over. All purchases will have to be made through preloaded RFID cards that can be bought at the ticketing stalls.
