      2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C220 CDI diesel launched; priced at Rs. 39.9 lakh

      Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury car manufacturer has launched the diesel version the new C-Class saloon. Named C 220 CDI, the sedan is available in two trims- Style and Avantgarde. The C-Class diesel saloon is priced at Rs. 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

      Under the bonnet is a 2143cc, in-line four-cylinder diesel motor that churns out a maximum power output of 167.6bhp between 3000 to 4200rpm and a peak torque of 40.7kgm between 1400 to 2800rpm. This engine is paired to a 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic gearbox. Initially, the saloon will come via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route; however, the local assembly of the sedan is expected to commence by the end of this year.

      Talking about features, the top-of-the line Avantgarde trim is equipped with high-resolution 8.4-inch screen for its COMAND infotainment compute, satellite navigation, three zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, rear view camera, etc. The other additions include LED ambient cabin lighting with three selectable colours, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start and a 13-speaker Burmester audio system.

      Alongside the C-Class C220 CDI, the German maker has also introduced the locally assembled C-Class petrol. The locally assembled version is priced at Rs. 40.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is almost the same price at which the CBU import variant of the sedan was launched last year. The locally assembled model misses out on some features like ambient lighting, illuminated door sills; however, the company has added new alloy wheels and interior trim.
