      2014 Honda Civic to get a 1.6L i-DTEC engine

      Honda Civic has had a fair share of fan following for years. The powerful sporty sedan has been in the Indian market for quite sometime. Last year, media had speculated that the beloved sedan may come in a Wagon Avatar, whereas the Japanese auto giant has never confirmed the same. The International market has recently been gifted with CVT-Coupe version.

      As per sources, if at-all the Wagon version makes to the production line, its shall be powered by a 1.6 liter DTEC engine mated to a six speed gearbox. The petrol may get 1.8 liter engine that maybe mated a manual or automatic transmission. It is also said that the Wagon version may get a body kit, LED running lamps and bigger alloy wheels to give it an aggressive stance. Design-wise the car looks way ahead of times, and something which the Indian market has never seen before. Interiors may also be blessed with chrome and leather upholstery.

      The recently internationally launched CVT version is powered by 1.8 litre engine that delivers an impressive power of 143 HP. The car looks a bit bigger and bolder than its older siblings. The new Coupe is loaded with some interesting gadgets like the Display Audio that lets you plug-in your iPhone device and play your favorite music or a game! Another interesting one is the Lane Watch device, that is a camera mounted on the passenger side mirror that is smartly positioned to give the driver a wider angle which otherwise would not have been possible. Moreover, sources from the company have stated that the car is highly fuel efficient, something which was an opposite from its previous counterparts.

      As per sources, the Indian version of Honda Civic has been undergoing some test at Honda's Indian facility. The current version in the country is powered by 1.8-litre, 1799cc 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC (intelligent – Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) technology that has been mater to a five speed gearbox. Honda has been discreet about the new Civic for the Indian market, we are keeping are fingers crossed and hoping that the expected version shall be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo event.
