Honda India seems all set to introduce its Amaze sedan in the auto market somewhere in April 2013. Following the launch of a new entry level sedan, Honda India will offer its first diesel engine model to the domestic buyers. Post launch, Honda Amaze in India will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, which is currently ruling the respective segment. The 2013 Amaze has been built on the manufacturing platform of the Brio hatchback and is believed to be competitively priced for the Indian auto market.

In order to lure a large number of buyers towards its stand, the auto maker has worked really well with its upcoming sedan. The new Amaze is anticipated to deliver a fuel efficiency of over 25 kmpl in diesel trim, which if actually comes as reality, will take the market by storm. With an average of more than 25 kmpl, Honda India will offer its Amaze sedan as the most fuel efficient diesel model in the Indian auto market. As affirmed by the Senior Vice President (Marketing & Sales) of Honda Car India, Jnaneshwar Sen, Amaze will come assimilated with country’s first all-aluminium diesel engine, which will have several industry leading capabilities in terms of power and fuel efficiency.

The auto maker will be launching its new model in two different engine options, namely 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel. Reportedly, the petrol engine has been sourced from the Brio hatchback, whereas the all new 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel drive train will set new standards in the entry level sedan segment. With a maximum power output of 98 bhp and highest torque of 300 Nm, Amaze diesel will beat Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire by great miles as it produces just 74 bhp with peak torque of 190 Nm.

Honda India has pinned great hopes with its new model in the Indian auto market and is looking ahead to deliver 12000 units of Amaze every month to the domestic buyers. However, it must be noted that the auto maker has not yet revealed the actual pricing and other features of the yet to be launched model. However, industry experts are of a view that the Amaze will be offered within a price range of 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs, which will surely attract Indian auto aficionados towards the showrooms of Honda in India.

The auto analysts also believe that the auto maker will have to competitively price its upcoming model. Owing to the 2 per cent price increase on cars in the recently introduced Union Budget, the price of upcoming Honda Amaze will be a crucial factor to determine its future in the country. It is also said that following the constant increase in the diesel prices, Honda India has decided to launch a diesel sedan when masses are planning to return towards the petrol run models as the difference between the prices of both the fuels is reducing significantly.
