General Motors, the leading American car maker is all set to mark the debut of an entry-level crossover SUV, Chevrolet Trax at the upcoming Paris Motor Show scheduled to commence from 29th September. The new sibling in the Chevrolet brand will be made available in about 140 nations and will be hit the European shores by end of the current year or by the early phase of 2013.
Ms. Susan Docherty, the President and Managing Director, Chevrolet Europe, commented, "For many decades, Chevrolet has been known for its dependable and capable SUVs. Trax will deliver on all of the traditional Chevrolet values and more. It is a modern, highly versatile yet fuel-efficient small SUV, offering car-like handling and all-wheel drive."
Chevrolet Trax, the compact, muscular and fuel efficient SUV dons athletic exteriors with newly styled front and rear bumpers and wheel arches along with impactful body lines for increased driving comfort and performance.
With a high cargo capacity of 350 litres, the Trax is designed to accommodate eight passengers. On the high end variants of the SUV, the automaker will be offering Chevrolet MyLink, an infotainment system synchronising content from smartphones for display on a seven-inch, high resolution, full colour touch-screen display.
Chevrolet Trax will be offered in a choice of three powertrains, 1.6L petrol engine generating a power of 138hp, the 1.4L turbo gasoline engine with six speed manual transmission producing a power of 140hp and 1.7 liter turbocharged diesel engine churning out 130hp power and 300Nm torque.
The SUV also embodies basic and advanced safety attributes such as six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution, Traction Control (TC), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Hill Start Assist (HSA) among others.
