      2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport battles 2012 Toyota Fortuner

      Indian automobile market now has Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2012 and new Toyota Fortuner, both powerful Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) with segment-leading specifications. At the 11th New Delhi Auto Expo, the facelifted Toyota Fortuner was introduced, and since then it has managed to impress SUV lovers, which reflects in the sales figure of the company. Compared to its predecessor, the new Fortuner is more powerful. On the other hand, the Pajero Sport is considered to be a dynamic SUV, which is loaded with excellent off-roading capabilities.

      The Fortuner has a new rear bumper, heavily chromed front radiator grill and sporty roof rails. It now looks more aggressive than its previous version. As far as looks are concerned, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has its old charm and continues to impress car lovers through its broad structure.

      Interiors of the new Toyota Fortuner 2012 are bestowed with darker wooden trim, new seats and amazing backlight for the instrument console. On the other hand, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has capacious seating arrangement and well matched upholstery. Other interior arrangements of the SUV include chrome accented inner door handles and wood print panels.

      A 3.0 L, 2982 cc common rail diesel engine is provided in the Toyota Fortuner, which is capable of producing power of 168 bhp at 3600 rpm and churns peak torque of 343 Nm at 1400-3400 rpm. Earlier, only 4WD was provided as optional arrangement but now the new Toyota Fortuner comes with 2WD mechanism. The recently launched 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has 2477 cc petrol engine, which generates power of 135 bhp at 3500 rpm with torque of 314 Nm.

      City mileage of new Toyota Fortuner is 7 kmpl, whereas it provides fuel economy of 11 kmpl on the highways. As far as mileage of its rival Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is concerned, the car delivers fuel economy of 7 kmpl in city and 10 kmpl on highways. In terms of price, Fortuner has an edge over 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sports as the former comes with a tag of Rs. 19.99 lacs to 20.99 lacs whereas the latter is priced around Rs. 23.53 lacs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
