The American automotive manufacturer, General Motors (GM) finally pulled the covers off its much awaited Chevrolet Sail U-VA in India, with a starting price of Rs. 4.44 and 5.87 lacs for petrol and diesel variant, respectively. While the petrol variant is powered by a 1.2 L powertrain, the diesel variant runs on a 1.3 L engine. Besides, delivering best-in-class performance, both variants boast of one of the best fuel efficiencies in its segment. The all new Chevrolet Sail hatchback is being offered with a 5-speed manual transmission unit in both versions.
This new model from GM has been launched in four and three trim levels in petrol and diesel variants respectively. While the petrol variant is available in base, LS, LS ABS and LT ABS; the diesel unit is being offered in LS, LS ABS and LT ABS trims. The pricing for the petrol variant of Chevrolet Sail U-VA is Rs. 4.44, 4,83, 5.18 and 5.57 lacs for the base, LS, LS ABS and LT ABS respectively. On the other hand, the diesel variant has been pegged at Rs. 5.87, 6.19 and 6.62 lacs for LS, LS ABS and LT ABS respectively. Though the new car stands out from the crowd owing to its brilliant design philosophy, it is the pricing that is expected to play the major role in deciding the fate of this recently launched hatchback. However, looking at the extremely competitive price tag, it is expected that the new car will be scoring well over its competitors during this festive season.
Chevrolet Sail hatchback is the debut product of the joint venture between General Motors and SAIC, a Chinese automotive manufacturer. Besides featuring one of the best specifications in the segment, Chevrolet Sail also boasts of an appealing design, based on the car maker's new global design philosophy. On its exteriors, the new model comes with 12” and 14” alloys (varying across trim levels), bold front design, front fog-lamps designed to resemble shooting star, rising-sun styled instrument cluster and dual-port front chrome grille. Moreover, the Sail hatchback has an extremely spacious boot space of 1134 litres, 60:40 folding RR seats and comfortable legroom. It will be interesting to watch how Indian automotive customers receive this all-rounder model this Diwali.
