The Kawasaki Ninja 300 was recently launched at a whopping price of Rs. 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) in the Indian auto market. In a recent development, the global version turned out to have some malfunctions related to the braking system of the sports bike. To rectify this error, Kawasaki has recalled around 1083 units of the motorcycle. According to company reports, errors were found in the motorcycles manufactured from August 16, 2012 to April 2, 2013.

Sources close to the development process stated that there was a serious malfunction in the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) of the bike, which could have resulted in partial or complete loss of functionality. An obvious consequence of this glitch could have seen wheel-lock ups and skidding, thereby leading to a potentially fatal crash. However, Indian owners of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 have nothing to worry about as the domestic version of this bike does not feature the ABS.

It must be noted that a quick action has been taken by the auto maker, who has alerted the consumers and instructed them to leave the bikes at nearest authorised dealerships for complete inspection. As per company claims, the ABS pumps would be replaced free of cost, if required. The process of recalling is slated to begin from 5th of August. Consumers who have any further queries have been asked to contact their respective Kawasaki dealerships for acquiring more information. Notably, all the affected motorcycles have the same model number, which is EX300BDFAL. Industry experts feel that this malfunction is going to pose a threat to the reputation of the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 launched in India is powered by a 4-stroke Parallel Twin liquid cooled engine. This engine has a displacement of 296 cc and a compression ratio of 10.6:1. The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is capable of generating a maximum power output of around 37 bhp at 11000 rpm, along with a torque of up to 27 Nm at 10000 rpm. Some of the other key features of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 are digital ignition, electric start, tube diamond steel frame and forced lubrication. Boasting a ground clearance of 140 mm, this bike has a 1405 mm wheel base and a seat height of 785 mm.
