MINI Convertible Other Details

MINI Convertible has 1 version available in India which is a petrol car. MINI Convertible comes in 4 colours, namely, Carbon Black, Glowing Red, Satellite Grey, Shadow Grey.

Minis are small and stylish and the Mini Convertible is a fashion statement. Mini got the latest couture to India when they got the 2016 Mini Convertible in this year. The new Convertible is based on a new platform and is bigger than the outgoing car that has been around for almost four years.

While the claimed ARAI fuel efficiency is 14.59kmpl, when you buy a Mini, you will not really be bothered by that.

Minis are premium cars and the cabin resonates the same. The interior has been done up in a mix of cloth and leather and good quality plastics. The rounded features continue inside the car as everything from the instrument cluster to the centre console and even the switches being round. The infotainment system gets a display screen embedded in the centre console. Features like airbags, ABS-EBD and ESP are standard along with cruise control, automatic headlamps, Bluetooth connectivity and push button start.

The new Mini convertible has been built on the UKL platform – the one to be shared with the next-generation BMW 1 Series. The car is 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller – quite a lot by Mini standards.  It is certainly beefy and muscular than the older car. The two-part radiator grille has been fused into one with the bumper blacked out and horizontal slats. There is another mesh grille on the air dam between the rounded fog lamps. The round headlamps get round LED daytime running lamps embedded in it. It now gets a fully electric roof that is quieter than the previous model and gets a fully integrated rollover protection in case you plan to get a bit too adventurous with the Mini. The 28mm longer wheelbase may allow eight-year-olds in the rear seats instead of the five-year-old kids.

The Convertible S gets the 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 189bhp of power. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and will get a front-engine front-wheel-drive setup. If Mini would want to boost numbers, the 1.5-litre three cylinder turbo-diesel that develops 114bhp of power would certainly come handy.
