This is the future – the MG ZS EV is one of the many electric SUVs coming our way in the forthcoming years. The second product from MG Motor India after the Hector, this ZS EV will be launched in January. Meanwhile, bookings have already commenced in the five cities it will initially be sold in, namely – Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.We got a chance to drive the ZS EV in the chilly and hazy winter of Delhi. So let us take a look at what the ZS EV has on offer as we try and find answers to the many questions related to this new electric car.
At first glance, the ZS EV looks pretty conventional. It is handsome to look at with well-balanced proportions, sharp creases and just the right amount of chrome all around. The attractive pin-studded grille with chrome surround is akin to what we are used to seeing on cars with Three-Pointed Stars. And the MG logo on the grille illuminates when the car is charging and behind this logo is where the charging port is placed. Summary
The second product from MG Motor in India is an all-electric SUV, ZS EV. The electric SUV is available in two variants – Excite and Exclusive.
Morris Garages has updated the ZS EV for 2021, with prices starting at Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom). The model, which is available in three colours across two variants, receives updates in the form of a better range, an updated iSmart system with Hinglish commands, improved ground clearance, and marginally larger tyres.
Inside, the 2021 MG ZS EV comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, three-level Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), drive modes, electric parking brake, six airbags, HSA, HDC, reverse parking camera and sensors, as well as a pedestrian warning system.
Design highlights of the 2021 MG ZS EV include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, and an integrated rear spoiler. The model also rides on new 215/55 profile tyres. The ground clearance of the ZS EV has been increased by 16mm, and now stands at 177mm.
The 2021 MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh battery that continues to produce 143bhp and 353Nm of torque. The model has a claimed range of 419kms (up from 340kms), and can sprint from 0- 100kmph in 8.5 seconds. The ZS EV can be charged with a 50 kW DC fast charger that enables 0-80 per cent charge in 50 minutes, while a standard AC charger takes six to eight hours for a full charge.
