Mercedes Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Other Details
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe was launched in India at the Auto Expo 2020. It is available in the top-of-the-line, most powerful 63S 4Matic+ variant, with 10 colour options to choose from at a starting price of Rs 2.42 crore, ex-showroom Delhi. The company claims this is the fastest 4-door series production car in the world.
The biggest difference between the GT R and the GT 4-Door Coupe is when you step inside, the latter can seat four adults and is focussed more on luxury than outright sportiness. The only similarity in design is in the way the buttons are placed on the lower centre console, but everything else feels like it is from the latest CLS. The 12.3-inch centre digital display which merges into the driver display, the fancy A/C vents, extensive use of leather, faux wood and silver trim will make any S-Class owner at home here.
The GT 4-Door Coupe is designed to look like a stretched version of the company’s halo GT sportscar, but is based on the same platform as the E-Class. The fascia is almost similar to the GT R/Roadster sportscar, with the same stretched all-LED headlamps, the massive grille with vertical slats and large air intakes on either side of the front splitter. The side design is more like the CLS Coupe, though a faux air vent on the front fender ties the design back to the GT R.
At the rear, the slim tail lights, the large wing, corner air-vents and large diffuser make it look sporty. The GT 4-Door Coupe gets two twin-exhausts instead of the centre twin-exhaust like the GT R.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol motor which is almost similar to the one powering the GT R sportscar, losing out on dry-sump lubrication. It develops 630bhp (53bhp more than the GT R) and the same 700Nm of torque, but loses out on performance because of the added weight. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
