If you trust Maruti, I suggest you do so entirely, without any doubt. I personally have a 2000 model Wagon R and it has performed extremely well and has given me full satisfaction. The new K series engine has won rave reviews and I don't see any reason why you should doubt this. There are many new drivers on the road who are non technical. If they choose the higher gear at a low road speed, there is bound to be valve bounce in any vehicle. This is probably what they refer to as engine noise. If you match the gear correctly to the speed of the vehicle and shift only after the necessary momemtum is reached, there should be no problem whatsoever. Considering the trust people have in Wagon R, I believe that Maruti will only improve the product, not take it backwards. If you like the looks and it fulfills your requirements, just go for it. The Alto, Figo, Polo are also very good cars. You can go for them. It is not necessary to wait for the new Alto. The present one is also good enough. The launch of the Maruti "Cervo" is on the cards but no dates have been announced. Diwali usually is an appropriate time of year for major launches.

Good steering and maneuvering, almost silent engine, good brakes,economical as compared to competitors like Santro and I 10,
What Can Improve
The steering may be made more responsive and light, the pick up with ac on and four occupants is poor esp. running on CNG, AC should have an auto cut on blower speed one, a little modification would have done away with the front A pillars to improve visibility. Rear wiper is needed even in LXI version for rainy days. Slightly wider tyres would give a better grip on highways

I have a scorpio from last 7 yrs, but after getting wagon r city travelling became very easy cost wise and parking .in Scorpio it cost approxmately RS 700were as RS 250 in wagon r so my travelling and work increased without putting burden on my pocket.sitting is comfort able both front and rear.
What Can Improve
From safety point of view car is not safe .it requires good driving skill otherwise slightest impact and the car is gone since bumber are plastic and body is very light.no luggage space in CNG , purely city transportation in an air condition autoricshaw .
Since prices of CNG will be increasing cost will come at par with diesel than there is no point in waiting at CNG pumps.
