Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi embodies every shortcoming of the previous edition

By Ronak Roongta on 11 November 2011

Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi embodies every shortcoming of the previous edition. The decision of buying was made due to the diesel engine's excellent capability to perform on roads. The diesel powered Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi is one of my expensive purchases, which is a classic representation of a modern-day hatchback. Although engine of the sportier premium hatchback remains the same, but integration of advanced technologies has fine-tuned the performance of the car.

The sportier car appears fresh from the outside, having a longer frame along with stretched headlights and tail lamps. Beside exteriors, interiors of the car are also appealing. Modern music console with USB port connectivity, steering mounted controls and in dash multi-information display (MID) represents interiors of the hatchback.

On context to technical capabilities, 1248 cc DDiS diesel engine produces maximum power output of 75 bhp and 4000 rpm and has peak torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. This engine is combined with an advanced 5-speed gearbox for smoother gear transitions. Technical dynamics and better power to weight ratio has optimised fuel consumption of the premium hatchback. Another noteworthy change in the latest edition is the replacement of tyres and wheels. Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi now comes fitted with 165/80 R14 tyres that provide firm grip on road.
