Detailed Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Review

What's Good?

Front seats comfortable. Mileage on long runs is just amazing. City mileage above average. Engine smooth and vibration free. Acceleration, once you cross 2000 rpm is incredible. You can overtake most cars, if you are an expert on Indian roads. Air-con performance is quite good. Electrically operated side view mirrors, good for safety, besides convenience. On good toll roads you can average 90 kms in one hour. I generally drive fast and do not look for exceptional mileage, at that speed.

What can improve?

As the saying goes...."you can not have the cake and eat it too"....You want excise concession, you get a small boot. If you can pay, there definitely are, better cars, though much more expensive than your Dzire. And, believe me, certainly, not value for money. Though boot size is not a problem for my family, I find the body panels and certain plastic parts, flimsy, and can break, just with an accidental hit to a stray dog or cat at speeds above 60 kmph. The hump in the middle of the rear seat floor makes travel uncomfortable for the fifth passenger, though I am quite sure that no one is going to stuff this car with too many passengers. Suspension can improve mainly because I have some very rough stretches to traverse and have to slow down and negotiate carefully. But, this may not be the case with many others in the top metros of our country, where the road quality is much superior. The front bumpers are quite low and this can result in damage to the under belly of the bumpers if you are not careful on rough stretches.

Overall Comments

Fairly good looks and paint quality is good.

Good interiors with good choice of colors for seat fabric and dash panels

Comfortable in the front seats and suspension is okay for good roads. Road holding and breaking is okay, but may be bit different with full load.

This car was bought by us on April 5th last year and is just about a year and 15000 kms old. This was bought purely for long distance travel for the two of us. When we have more people, we take the SUV, which of course is a fuel guzzler, but can take five adults comfortably. Our Dzire fulfills what we wanted in a second car and is our favorite for long and speedy drives. It takes you places comfortably and does not pick a hole in your pocket. So, I just love it.
