Detailed Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Review

What's Good?

minimalistic design, fuel efficiency, cheap to run, peppy motor with a can do attitude, takes on big mammoths in the city, accelerates good without the a/c on(like a small race bred car),low slung driving position and precise steering makes it a one finger driver.a car for your monday to Friday thrashing and can also handle a weekend fling once a while.

What can improve?

Backseat could have more legroom but that's hardly a negative

Overall Comments

A good timid shape with nice straight lines and no bulging monstrosities, grille looks better than its predecessor who looked like a sad dog but now has a straight poker face with some mystery to it.all in all its lost its dull look and has blossomed into a handsome teenage boy.

Plastic ,plastic ,plastic ,which isn't a bad thing once you get used to and a boon to clean.seats are comfortable and roomy in the front with a good driving position even for the shorter of the people.dash is a good grey plastic with a rough texture, two cubby holes in the centre console behind the gear box make ideal to place your phone/music player and u also get 2 cup holders just in case u need the coffee n youre running late for work.everything from the placement of the dials to the adjustment of the seats and the visibility make it a great choice for my grandmother even if shell still be willing to drive.

The first time I rode the car I had figured out its role in my life.this was gonna be my gun slinger, the workhorse I ride around for work everyday.the 1100 cc k10 engine by maruti is both powerful when u need it to be and frugal at the same time.with the top speed of 132kph(could've done more but it got wobbly)I must say I was pretty impressed with it from a car this size.with a kerb weight of about 900 kg its not very heavy and that makes it nimble.the ride quality can be bumpy as the suspension is stiff but that makes it a racebred car and the average joe can do quite a lot with that, get kicks out of it.that being said the ride is smooth if there were some good patches of road left in Bombay (there are a few)but if you lower the tyre pressure by 2 psi to 30 its not that bad.the gear ratios are low as is expected in a small hatch like this and downshifting is a nightmare in start stop traffic.braking is especially good and in 2 years I've not had any complaints with it except regular greasing is necessary to keep squeaking away.engine needs regular oil change and maintainence cost overall was 3500 in 2 years.

I've been driving cars since 10 years now and this rugged inbred car is my choice for the indian road condition and driving style.there is a peace of mind that even if it get scratched its easy to repair and parts are easily available.it has no airbags so probably wouldn't take it for a holiday or a long drive but certainly is my choice for Monday morning 8am jams.I give it 9/10 overall and a big smile extra.
