The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is the Indian manufacturer’s offering to the entry-level car buyer in the country. The Alto 800 facelift takes it forward from its predecessor, legacy of a frugal engine, basic features and bulletproof reliability. While the base variant ditches power steering and air-conditioning to keep the price tag in check, the top-spec Alto 800 gets it all and plus some more.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 delivers 24.7kmpl when run on petrol and 33.44km per kg for CNG.

The Alto 800 is an entry-level car and the feature list complements its positioning. The lowest variant STD does not get power steering or AC. The LX gets AC followed by the LXi which gets power steering too. Power windows feature only on the top spec VXi but on the front doors only. It gets dual tone interiors and fabric upholstery. To improve on the safety ratings, Maruti provides driver airbag as an option right from the base variant.

The Maruti Alto 800 facelift gets a new front bumper. The hexagonal grille on the air-dam nhas been replaced by the trapezoidal one. The bumper also has fog lamps mounted on the bumper – a first for the entry level hatchback from the Indian manufacturer. The headlamp internals have been tweaked a bit. The side profile and the rear have been carried over from the older Alto 800.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is powered by a 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine. It develops a maximum power of 47bhp at 6000rpm and 69Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. You can also opt for CNG as alternate fuel with a factory fitted CNG conversion kit.
