Summary

The latest iteration of the Land Rover Discovery Sport has been introduced in the country with a fresh set of mechanical and feature upgrades. The new model is now also available with a petrol option in the HSE variant while earlier it was limited only to the SE variant. As for diesel, the HSE and the SE variants get a more powerful engine, while the power output for the base Pure variant in diesel remains unchanged. The Discovery Sport sits below the Range Rover Evoque and is offered with both five and seven seat options in the Indian luxury car market.

The interior is modern with a vertical layout for the centre console, similar to the one seen in all the new Land Rover models. The new architecture also allows to fit in seven seats in the relatively small cabin. It gets three-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof along with electrically operated front seats and wing mirrors. It gets a touchscreen display for the infotainment system which gets multiple connectivity options like Bluetooth, USB and AUX. It gets rear-view camera with parking sensors along with driver aids like hill-assist. For safety, you have a cocoon of airbags with an extensive stability program.

Speaking of design, the Discovery Sport gets the new family face which is reminiscent of the Evoque and the new Range Rover family. The Discovery does not look like the typical old-school Land Rover models; it is modern, yet has lot of elements that are atypical of Land Rovers. The front gets the twin-slat grille, sweptback headlamps, offset logo and massive front bumper. The tail lamps are very similar to that of the Evoque and get an all-LED treatment. In proportions, the Discovery Sport looks bigger than the entry-level Range Rover, something that should work in its favour.

The HSE Luxury variant is offered with a Dynamic Design Pack with significant exterior advancements like the body styling kit, chrome tailpipe finisher, black pack with unique black grille along with the unique black rear license plate plinth and red 'Sport' badge. These upgraded attributes are further accompanied by the most upgraded Touch Pro upgrades that are similar to the Touch Pro Duo.

Under the hood, the 2.0-litre petrol Ingenium motor produces 237bhp and 340Nm. The diesel 2.0-litre Ingenium, on the other hand, is available in two states of tune – 147bhp in Pure trim and 177bhp in the rest of the variants. The transmission is the same nine-speed automatic offered as standard.
