      Engine Over heat problems

7 years ago | Sumesh Nadharia

      Whats Good

I'm a Elite i20 Asta-Petrol owner (New Car). Now this is 7 times I complainted to Hyundai dealer service center (Popular Hyundai, Vyttila, Kochi) But they could not rectify this serious problem. Me and my family members are afraid to travel in this car. Bonnet parts are in over heated. They provided a pad under the bonnet, but there is no use. This was a foolish decision.

      What Can Improve

Should appoint expert service engineers and should improve manufacturing qualities.

Very poor dealings of the service people. They are trying to convincing that Engine over heat problem is normal. What a foolish convincing

        Whats Good

The design is definitely captivating. The front looks forever in a sweet slumber with open eyes. Then comes a host of features that most other cars of the same segment do not possess. The audio system is excellent. The Radio not only gives mere FM channels but also provides MW channels. The flowing dashboard looks beautiful. Bluetooth facility is a boon in emergency situations when one has to attend a phone without losing attention from driving. The air conditioner too is powerful. There is ample leg room both in front and back. Another very useful feature is the way not only the rear seat back rests can be folded to make space for luggage but also how the sitting part of the seat can be pushed out so that the back rest is perfectly flat at the bottom. Smart key facility is great. It also provides door locking and opening by pressing a button on the door without sacrificing security to the car. The boot space is also pretty good. The car provides matchless safety for passengers not only because of features like airbag but also because it has thick body.

        What Can Improve

Though the dashboard is beautiful and big, much of it is a waste. There is no perfectly convenient space to keep even a car freshener as there is no flat surface. Another important drawback Hyundai has to address urgently is about its automatic windows. The electronic rearview mirrors on both sides can be opened or closed even when the engine is off. But windows cannot be raised or opened if the engine is off. This causes difficulty for people sitting inside when the driver may be away. Most other cars in the market, even below the segment, have auto door lock facility after the car crosses a certain speed. This is absent in Asta 1.2. A major area where improvement becomes necessary is its power in hilly areas. May be due to the weight of the body, i20 cannot climb a hill in the same gear in which a mere 800 cc car would climb the same hill. Even on flat and smooth roads, when compared to many other cars of the segment, it cannot pick up speed fast once it is slowed down. Moreover, unless one shifts the gear down to first gear, it fails to pick up in such situations.

In general, Asta i20 possesses great features, and provides great comfort to passengers. But some of the features like automatic wipers and headlights which are not unavoidable cause the vehicle very expensive. Though it may look attractive interesting initially, one slowly begins to realize that one could do without only because of their price. However, the car is a good choice when we prioritise safety.

I have driven one I 20 few days back,I can tell you my experience. With 3 adults and A/C on, the car is reluctant to accelerate beyond a pint, handling too was not great. I agree the build quality of i20 is better in all aspects, but the engine is a shit. I was more or less certain about booking I 20. But changed my plan once I drove it. Hyundai should look at the engine before the launch of the car. Its a 1.2 lt modfied Kappa engine which is also used for I 10. Guys grow up and check for your self. If you want to try for your self then ask one of your friends for a drag race with a Swift. There is no match.

I have been driving my Hyundai i20 Magna Diesel for more than year and would like to share my experience with this excellent hatchback. Hyundai i20 Magna is quite responsive when it comes to the diesel engine that also delivers a favourable fuel economy. Powered by a 1.4-litre 90 hp diesel engine, Hyundai i20 Magna caters a city mileage of 18 kmpl that can be taken up to an impressive 23 kmpl on highways. Along with a brilliant mileage, the hatchback does not fall short in terms of cabin comfort. The abundantly spacious cabin is thronged with high quality passenger comfort features. The features I can make most use of include an effective air-conditioning system with heater, adjustable steering column, automated remote trunk and fuel-lid opening, front cup-holders and much more. One of my favourite aspects about the hatchback is the high-definition entertainment unit. The cabin has a audio system with CD player and AM/FM, moreover complimented with front and rear seat speakers. In terms of safety, Hyundai i20 Magna may not be the best from its class, however, optimum features like central locking system, rear seat belts, door ajar warning signals, front and side impact beams and engine immobiliser are quite suffice.

i own hyundai i20 1.2petrol asta model(recently bought). and i am satisfied with the ac , its pretty effective.though power is less than swift but according to dealer it will gradually increase after 2nd service is done. i think the car has better build and is a good subsitute for maruti.(as swift is too common now).in this car the interiors feel rich, full of featurs, big boot space legroom for rear passengers with all things.(almost 6lakhs on road), till now i have no problem. i think brands like hyundai, honda, tata are good subsitutes if one don't want to go maruti's car.(rather forcibly sending to go for it).
