With technology things are getting smaller. You can now have you computer on your wrist and which can do much more than what your desktop did five years ago. On the other hand, cars are getting bigger. Every hatchback now has a crossover SUV spawning off and the Honda Jazz is latest on the list. Honda had unveiled the WR-V crossover at Sao Paolo in Brazil and it has now arrived in India.

The WR-V looks like it will be competing with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport than the Hyundai i20 Active or the Toyota Etios Cross or the Fiat Avventura. You can expect it to be priced slightly above the Honda Jazz just like the Brezza has been positioned over the Baleno in Maruti scheme of things.

The 1498 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 24 kmpl in city and 26 kmpl on highways, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 16 kmpl on urban roads and 18 kmpl on freeways, respectively.

Inside, the WR-V is unmistakably like the Jazz with a very similar layout of the dashboard, dials, centre console and the steering wheel. While the equipment is also the same as the Jazz, the WR-V gets an added electrically operated sunroof for the top-spec car bringing it closer to the Honda City on the features list.

On the safety front, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD are standard across the range.

The WR-V looks have been inspired more by the Honda BR-V than those of the Jazz. It gets a similar decked up bonnet with rectangular swept back headlamps flanking the moustache-like thick chrome slat. The bumper gets a lot of contours, cuts and creases along with a bash-plate to complete a busy SUV look. The profile, especially after the A-pillar, reveals the Jazz roots up to the tail. It gets a thin peripheral cladding and roof rails to complete the SUV look.

Under the hood, you will have the same engine options as the Jazz – the 1.2-litre i-Vtec petrol engine and the 1.5-litre i-Dtec diesel engine. The 91bhp petrol is being offered with a five-speed manual gearbox while the 100bhp diesel will be available with the six-speed manual. The petrol version might get the CVT gearbox depending on the popularity of the car and demand.
