Upcoming Honda City New

Honda City New
June 2020 Expected Launch
9.7 - 14 Lakhs Expected Price

The fifth-generation Honda City is expected to be launched in India by end-March 2020. It adopts design themes introduced by cars like the Civic and the Amaze and adorn them over a larger body. Apart from the new design, the City is expected to get new premium features and rumoured to get new mild-hybrid and diesel-CVT powertrains. Prices are expected to remain similar to the model it replaces, starting from Rs 10 lakh and costing up to Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The new City will continue to compete against the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and the Hyundai Verna.

It is clear that the new City has taken a lot of design cues from the larger Civic sedan. LED headlights flanking a large ‘Wing’ chrome/black grille insert, a clamshell bonnet, larger air dams and stretched LED taillights that add a lot of flair and character to the new City’s design.

The new City, if it is the same as Thai-spec model, will be 113mm longer and 53mm wider than the outgoing model. This, along with Honda’s ability to package its cars like no other, should add a significant amount of interior space - enough to give the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz a run for its money. The improved space along with an all-new cabin design should attract a lot of attention from potential customers.

The all-new City will be powered by a familiar set of engines which have been modified to comply with stricter BS6 emission norms. Honda may add a mild-hybrid system to the petrol engine to comply with the norms better, while a diesel-CVT combination may be added to cater to those looking for efficiency and convenience in a single package.
