Upcoming Ford Mustang Facelift

Ford Mustang Facelift
May 2021 Expected Launch
75 - 76 Lakhs Expected Price

Ford’s halo sportscar is no longer on sale in India though the company could bring it back if there is enough demand from customers. The Ford Mustang was one of the best performance-for-the-paisa offering in India, but has been discontinued due to a change in focus towards affordable SUVs made in conjunction with Mahindra, adoption of BS6 norms and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ford Mustang facelift, launched worldwide in 2018, received a heavily revised front fascia design, new interior design, new digital interfaces and updated engine and transmission. The exterior design makes the Mustang look more shark-like than before, with all-LED illumination, sportier bumper and lower hood design. Highlights on the inside include a larger touchscreen infotainment system and all-digital instrument cluster with other bits of bobs refreshing the interior look and feel.

Under the hood, the five-litre V8 sees its power and torque improve thanks to the use of both port as well as direct fuel-injection. The dual injection system also improves fuel-efficiency and, most importantly, lowers emissions as the fuel is burnt better. The slow-shifting six-speed automatic transmission gives way to a sophisticated 10-speed unit. Ride and handling should improve thanks to new shock absorbers, a new rear suspension setup and improved stabiliser bars. An optional
