Detailed Fiat Grande Punto Review

What's Good?

An out and out driver's car which makes you realise that everytime you are behind the wheel. Power packed performer, height adjustable seats and large leg room in the front, especially for the taller drivers is a treat. Effective air conditioning, smooth power stearing and a silent cabin for a diesel car make it an all rounder. Inside cabin is spacious and the weight of the car for its handling capabilities makes one feel as if they are actually driving a sedan....

What can improve?

Cup holders are too small and not angled well to hold larger cups of coffee. Audio system could have been better, at least with better speakers. Rear cabin is dark as no lights mounted there or let's just say need more light for the long night!

Overall Comments

The sharp lined curve from the front to the rear makes it look like a single unit and reflects the homogenity in its design. Aerodynamic styling makes you feel as if you are cutting through air. High placed tail lamps and an additonal tail lamp on the top allows better visibility for drivers behind. Large windows ensure better visibility from all around the car

Though functional with enough storage space in the front and on the door rims, basic dashboard console could be made a little more attractive. Seats are very comfortable, with good side support to the back and also good thigh support for the rear passengers. Volume control on the audio player can be mapped to the speed of the car, ensuring an increase with the engine rev. The computerics work best guiding the driver about every little detail from instant consumption to trip wise data to warning signals The head rest for the driver seat could be angled a little more to the front

The best part about owning a Punto is the ride quality. Having used many other cars in the past and been a passionate driver, driven across the country, this to me is the most comfortable of all small cars and hatchbacks! Smooth as silk thanks to the Macpherson struts, manouvers well, reacts on time and handles around corners or sharp turns with rock steady movement. Watch out for those big potholes or tall speed breaksr though....low ground clearance could be a heart breaker!

Servicing capabilities are slated to improve with FIAT taking it up at their own end and looks promising. Upgrades should be launched soon to improve interiors or mechanics across models. Over all the last 2.5 years have been good with the first service only at 15k followed by the second at 30k, maitainence costs as low as nothing, just regular servicing!
