The Nissan Micra and Chevrolet Beat are among the two affordable yet exciting hatchbacks that we have in India. We are being asked that which one of them is the best pick, so, here we are analyzing both the cars on different parameters.
Exterior and Interior Design: Nissan Micra Vs Chevrolet Beat
The new Micra features a bigger grille, re-designed front fenders and bonnet, deeper chin, new headlamps, a new set of alloys, LED tail lamps, revised rear bumper and tail gate lip. The updated model is 45mm longer than the old one. Whereas, the facelifted Beat gets new bumpers, modified headlights and tail lamps, new mirrors and a new rear spoiler with LED inserts. The Beat looks sportier and more outgoing than the Micra as the latter has a comparatively plain design.
From inside, the Micra is more practical, feature-rich and up-market than the Beat. The new glossy black centre console and silver surrounded door-pads and dashboard add a premium touch to the car. New features include climate control, reversing camera, USB and Aux-in ports, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry and more supportive seats. The driver airbag, ABS and EBD are available only on top-end variant. Meanwhile, the Beat offers features such as power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, CD players, dual airbags and ABS.

The Beat is powered by a 1.0-litre SMARTECH diesel and a 1.2-litre SMARTECH petrol engines that deliver a maximum power of 57.6bhp with 150Nm of torque and 79.3bhp with 106.5Nm of torque respectively. Both the engines are coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel variant returns a fuel economy of 25.44kmpl, while the petrol version offers 18.6kmpl.
Powering the Micra is a more powerful 1.5-litre diesel that churns out a maximum power of 63.1bhp at 4000rpm with 160Nm of torque. Mated with a 5-speed transmission, it delivers a mileage of 23.08kmpl. The Micra petrol is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that develops a peak power output of 75bhp at 6000rpm with 104Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The major attraction is the new CVT (Continuously variable transmission) gearbox, which is offered only on the petrol trim. Nissan claims that the automatic version is very frugal as it delivers a mileage of 19.35kmpl, while the fuel economy of the 5-speed manual transmission model is also improved, which now offers 18.44kmpl.
The Beat is a more fun to drive car, while the Micra is a comfortable and practical family vehicle.

The Chevrolet Beat is one of the most stylish and sportier hatchbacks in the market. What makes it a more alluring deal is its pricing. Whereas the Micra, despite being slightly pricier than the Beat, is a good value for money product. It’s a progressive hatch with high-grade sophistication and technology.
