When it comes to hatchbacks, Maruti Suzuki Swift rules the B Segment in terms of popularity and sales. It was last year that the Swift got a cosmetic uplift with snazzy bits like chrome additions and DRL mimicking strips around the fog lamps. Maruti Swift brought in a trend of premium hatchbacks in India; the same was followed by many other car makers. Its stellar performance in sales convinced Maruti Suzuki that the Indian audiences are too convinced about the product to give it an all new makeover.

Hyundai, known for launching successful cars, was smart and quick to launch the Grandi10 and pitch it exactly between the i10 and the i20. This hatch from Hyundai was offered with features which took many car makers by surprise. Hyundai Grandi10, sold in India, has a longer wheelbase compared to its counterpart sold in Europe. So which one is better? We do a spec-feature comparo to understand it better.

Exterior and Interior Design: Hyundai Grand i10 Vs Maruti Suzuki Swift

Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift in 2005 and since then the company has not fiddled too much with its overall design. Even the new generation sported similar lines and profile with only change in dimensions as the new Swift grew in size making it more spacious than before. Sweep back headlamps along with a slender grille and compactly placed fog lamps leave an impressive profile. The strong shoulder line paired with larger wheel arches and sporty shaped alloys make this hatch look elegant. It also gets a large tail door to help its customers load luggage in the best and most convenient way possible.

Hyundai knows the fact that even a small hatchback needs a strong design to attract consumers and thus, they made use of the Fluidic Design philosophy to make the exteriors of the Grandi10 look extremely modern. The hexagonal grille is bold in design. The headlights sweep back towards the side as well as on the bonnet making it look large. The lower section of the front bumper has multiple crease lines. The tail door has a bulge in the design. Overall, it looks very impressive. These guys have worked hard in getting all their new cars look good.

Inside the Maruti Suzuki Swift, keeping pace with modern times, it gets push start option instead of the conventional. The cabin feels more spacious than before and the well supported leather seats, seen on premium variants, lend a comfortable feel. It gets automatic climate control, steering mounted control, AUX, Bluetooth connectivity and a lane shift indicator in addition to other consumer friendly features.

To the Hyundai Grand i10’s advantage, there are rear AC vents and an additional space for rear occupants to help them stretch their feet and be comfortable even on longer journeys. Music can be played via the 2-Din integrated entertainment system. It has an optional USB-AUX-in option too. The USB is located at a very convenient position near the central storage space.
