The Chevrolet Beat is the American auto-maker’s entry level hatchback in the country. Launched in 2011, the Beat has surfaced as one of the most popular hatchbacks sold in the country. Based on the M300 and sold as Spark internationally, the Beat is made at the Halol Plant near Ahmedabad. It offers modern styling with equally modern interiors. It is available in petrol as well as in diesel engine options. It is priced between Rs. 4,13,643 to Rs. 6,30,375.

Hyundai is known to keep its product portfolio fresh with the right facelifts. The i10 too was updated with its now trendsetting fluidic design language without any unnecessary flamboyance. The refresh boasted of redesigned headlamps, new front grill design, stylish bumpers and refreshed interiors. Hyundai i10 is one of the premiere options considered by anyone planning to buy a hatchback. A good city car with decent handling, power output, and great mileage numbers becomes an instant favorite in the hatchback segment.

Chevrolet Beat Vs Hyundai i10 Exteriors

In Hyundai i10, the headlamps have been redesigned and now offer a better visibility. The tear drop shaped headlamps also pack in the side turning indicators in them. Front grille gets the hexagonal design with the company logo done in chrome. The headlights don’t get engulfed in the bonnet line and instead flow back in a sweeping manner. The bonnet line lies well above the grille.

In the side profile on the Magna variant, the ORVMS get a new design and the turning indicator lights are integrated in then. The Door protectors are body coloured. Overall the upgrade given on side profile is very subtle and is not very evident.

The Beat gets a very modern design with lots of edges. The Beat really stands out from the other cars with its impressive dual-port front grille design, angular lines and recessed rear door handles; features that remain unmatched in its segment. The vibrant colours of Beat complement its funky exterior design.

Chevrolet Beat Vs Hyundai i10 Interiors

In the Hyundai i10, the dashboard is dual coloured and features an integrated AC unit. The AC unit is impressive compared to the earlier version as it helps cool down the cabin in a comparatively less time even in hot grilling weather. The switches on the console are of very good quality. The hazard indicator switch is smartly placed in the centre. The affixed glove box also offers ample space.

There are manual joysticks to adjust the ORVMs, which provides effortless adjustments with ease. The Speedometer design is decent and looks good with elegant blue backlighting. The digital display has two trip meters and a fuel gauge. There is no up gradation with the wiper and indicator controllers. The interiors of the Hyundai i10 indeed feel premium compared to its competition but then the only drawback is the lack of room inside the cabin where its competition can have the winning edge especially the Wagon R which feel a lot roomier compared to the i10

The Beat instead gets a motorcycle inspired cockpit instrumental cluster. The front seats are comfortable and the low seat driving posture is what gives excellent lateral support. The tilt-adjustable steering wheel has a three spoke design, with the wiper control on the left. The square mirror is anti-glare or anti-reflective and gives a crystal clear view (rpm, fuel tank, trip meter and time is clearly visible even in eye-lit daylight).

The company claims a mileage of 18.6kmpl for petrol and 13.3kmpl for LPG.

Chevrolet Beat Vs Hyundai i10 Conclusion

If you want a car with modern looks and zappy performance then the Chevrolet Beat should be your choice. Also, a revamped version of Beat is anticipated next year which will see a slew of changes in this compact hatch. The i10 comes from a reliable brand like Hyundai which is a big plus for this car. It may not look as modern or feel as zippy as the beat but then at the end of the day Hyundais are more dependable.
