Summary

Chevrolet Sail Hatchback has 8 versions available in India from which 4 are petrol and 4 are diesel cars. Chevrolet Sail Hatchback comes in 6 colours, namely, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Sandrift Grey, Summit White, Super Red, Switchblade Silver.

The Chevrolet Sail hatchback, launched in 2010, received its first minor facelift in 2014. The new model got some exterior and interior styling updates. It features new headlamps, new alloys design, blacked out B-pillar, new tail lamp etc. From inside, the hatchback looks similar to the old model. However, it gets dashboard with dual-tone black and beige finish, new 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and few more updates. The hatchback continues to be powered with the same 84.8bhp, 1.2-litre petrol and 76.9bhp, 1.3-litre diesel engines, mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Sail hatchback is one of the most fuel efficient Chevrolet cars in India. The petrol variant delivers an impressive fuel economy of 15kmpl in city and 18kmpl on highways, while the diesel model offers a maximum mileage of 22kmpl.

While the exterior updates look quite minimal, the cabin of the car has received quite significant changes. It gets dashboard with dual-tone black and beige finish, all-black steering with golden shade and door handles, chrome surrounded AC vents and gear knob and 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The material quality is improved, but isn’t up to the mark. The hatchback lacks some essential features such as multi-information display, climate control and steering mounted audio system.

With minor exterior updates, the new model looks identical to the old one. The styling is still conventional. The front fascia features new headlamps and chromed fog lamps. The new alloys design and blacked out B-pillar are the major changes on side profile. At the rear end, it sports new tail lamp and revised boot lip with a chromed strip.

The Sail hatchback facelift is available with the same engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. The 1.3-litre diesel engine churns out a maximum power of 76.9bhp at 4000rpm with a peak torque of 205Nm at 1750rpm. The 1.2-litre, SMARTECH petrol engine is good for 84.8bhp and 113Nm at 5000rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is on offer. Performance-wise, both the engines are brilliant. The in-gear acceleration is good. The hatchback is among the most impressive entry-level Chevrolet cars in India in terms of ride and handling.
