The New Year promises to be an exciting one for buyers and manufacturers alike. With a host of launches lined up, here’s a list of 10 upcoming cars in 2016 that we’re betting on: 

1. The Tata Zica is all-set to storm the sub-5 lakh small car segment in the country. A lot of thought has gone into every element, from the engineering and design of the exterior to the quality of the passenger cabin and the levels of kit on board.

2. The Maruti Ignis concept was showcased at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016 and a production version is expected to arrive into showrooms in time for the festive season, in the second half of the year. The Ignis promises to be one of the hottest on our list of upcoming cars in India.

3. The Vitara Brezza is market leader’s big move into the highly lucrative compact-SUV segment. A diesel only vehicle, the strong driving characteristics with the backing of Maruti’s network ought to make it a winner.

4. Toyota’s Innova is the unchallenged leader & the latest iteration of this hugely successful car is on the list of 10 upcoming cars in 2016 to make it to the top of the sales charts.

5. Honda may be a later entrant to the compact SUV segment, but it shall do so in style when it drives in with the BR-V sometime this year.

6. Volkswagen’s compact sedan, the Ameo is built on the Polo hatchback platform and will slot in nicely below the Vento sedan.

7. The Ssangyong Tivoli is expected to go on sale this year. Powering the reworked SUV is a 1.6 litre petrol with 125 bhp & 157 Nm of torque.

8. With the entry of the Toyota Vios, the car major will finally be able to take the fight to the Honda City, challenging it for the segment leader’s crown.

9. The stunning new Superb from Skoda is one of the 10 upcoming cars in 2016 that’ll make it to our shores. Based on the MBQ platform, Skoda have completely revamped the car, giving it a futuristic, angular design and a host of changes under the skin, in a longer, more premium package.

10. Lastly, Hyundai’s third-generation Tucson SUV is coming. It will slot in between the Creta & the SantaFe. It will be powered by a quad-cylinder, 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine with 175 bhp of power & 400+ Nm torque.

The list of upcoming cars in India is a mile long, with every manufacturer putting up a strong showing. It will therefore be interesting to see, who wins their respective battles & emerges victorious at the end, when the dust settles.
