Honda continue to fire on all cylinders as it launches one car after another in India. Following a high-profile launch of the BR-V, the Japanese car maker has now chosen to focus on the entry-hatchback segment with the Brio. Here are 10 facts about the 2016 Brio worth spending time on:

  1. The Brio gets a redesigned face for this model year. It now sports a gloss-black grill up-front with contrast chrome detailing along the lower lip.
  2. The Honda Brio now gets a reworked bumper, with the fog-lamp housing growing in size, while the air-dam is wider too. The tail-lamps too have been redesigned for 2016.
  3. If you were waiting for a fresh set of alloy-wheel designs, then you’ll be disappointed, as Honda have chosen to stick with the staid-design from last year.
  4. Honda cars have typically come with great petrol motors under the hood. The Brio too lives up to that DNA, and the 2016 edition carries along its powerplant options unchanged over the previous version.
  5. One of the key facts you should know about the Honda Brio is that the manufacturer has really improved upon the look and feel factor inside the passenger cabin. The car gets an all-black treatment for the dashboard, that’s been borrowed from elder siblings - the 2016 Amaze & the BR-V.
  6. The lower-spec variants on the Honda Brio continue to wear beige on the inside, with the ‘all-black’ treatment coming in only on the top variant.
  7. The instrument binnacle is all-new, while the HVAC controls go digital in the 2016 edition on the Brio.
  8. Anti-lock brakes, brake force distribution, dual air-bags, load-limiting seat-belt tensioners are all part of the safety kit for the Honda Brio in 2016.
  9. The infotainment system is a dual-DIN affair. Connectivity is well taken care of with full-bluetooth capabilities (calling & music streaming included) as well as USB & AUX options.
  10. The Honda Brio price starts at 4,69,000 for the base trim, manual transmission option, going all the way to 6,86,000 for the range topping Automatic Transmission option in VX trim. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Unlike the Honda City which is near untouchable in its segment, the Honda Brio is up against some well-matched competition. The Maruti Swift, Grand i10 and the new-gen Figo are all accomplished cars with a lot going for them. It will be interesting to see how the 2016 Honda Brio takes the fight to this well-entrenched competition.
