Mercedes-Benz is an exalted name in the world of fine motoring. The three-pointed-star can be found adorning the grille & bonnets of some of the finest cars on the planet. From coupes and convertibles, to sedans and the most iconic SUV’s in the world - Mercedes has been making them all throughout its history. It is the midsize sedan range however, that has been the mainstay of this German marque and the Mercedes Benz E-Class is the finest midsize sedan that money can buy.

Their quality creations have led to a legion of star-struck fans stretching across all the key markets around the world. Bollywood stars like Rani Mukerji too being one of them. Back in 2009, at the motor show in Geneva, Mercedes had taken the covers off to the W212 model version of their most profitable midsize sedan. It soon made its way to showrooms in India, where the manufacturer already had a reputation for fine cars and was at the top of the sales charts in its category.

One specimen of the latest Mercedes-Benz E-Class soon made its way to the collection of the Ms. Mukerji, who couldn’t stop using it to go everywhere she went. The luxury midsize sedan was packed to the gills with the latest in safety and passenger comforts. There was a blind spot monitor, to let the driver know if anyone was in perimeter. The E-class had the PreSafe system with Attention Assist & Night View Assist Plus. It also came with dual-xenon projector headlamp setup, complete with LED Driving Lights to light up the road ahead like daylight. Even the tail-lamps were LED based units. Powering the beautiful car was a 3 litre V6 diesel engine that produced 228 bhp of power & a whopping 540 Nm of torque. Transferring all the power was an all-new variant of the 7G-Tronic Plus 4Matic auto-transmission system.

Ms. Rani Mukerji used to be spotted all over town in her E-Class. She seemed to revel in its luxurious cocoon like interior and the carpet like ride quality that insulated her from the bumps on the road. The car also had enough power to ferry her everywhere without giving much cause for complaints.

The E-Class has since then come a long way. But there’s so much that remains unchanged. Fans are still as Star-Struck as they have always been. The ‘E’ is still the undisputed champion of the luxury midsize sedan segment and shall continue to be.
