The following list of top 10 fuel saving sedan cars in India has been compiled for those who are still looking for some pocket friendly options in the myriad of diverse sedan segment.

  1. Maruti Swift Dzire – The2015 Maruti Swift Dzire continues to rule the roost among top 10 sedan cars in India for its remarkable fuel efficiency, upgraded features, and excellent drivability. The diesel version of this sedan gets powered by the very same 1.3-litre engine that delivers 74bhp and revised fuel economy of 26.5kmpl. The power mill suitably mates with 5-speed manual transmission box.

  2. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz – It rightly claims the second position in top 10 fuel saving cars list for its 1.3-litre DDIS diesel mill that churns 89bhp and returns a mileage of 26.2kmpl. The engine mates with a 5-speed manual gearbox and its price range varies between Rs.8.04 lakhs to Rs.9.80 lakhs.

  3. Honda City – One of the oldest and best known sedan cars in India, this one gets more special after a recent addition of diesel engine. It shares its 1.5-litre diesel motor with Amaze that delivers 99bhp and a fuel efficiency of 26kmpl. The price range goes from Rs.8.75 lakhs to Rs.9.93 lakhs.

  4. Honda Amaze – The younger sibling of Honda City, this one features the very same power train as carried by City but in a slightly down-tuned style. Its 1.5-litre diesel mill delivers a mileage of 25.8kmpl for 99bhp. Price range goes from Rs.6.20 lakhs to Rs.7.75 lakhs.

  5. Ford Fiesta – It entered Indian market last year with an aim to get Ford its desired place in sedan segment. The revised version of this sedan car in India gets powered by a 1.5-litre TDCI diesel mill that churns 85bhp to deliver an output of 25kmpl.

  6. Hyundai Xcent – This one broke ice for the Korean car maker in entry-level sedan segment and provided it a strong stand against Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze. This one gets counted among top 10 sedan cars in India for a heart-winning mileage figure of 24.4kmpl via a 1.2-litre CRDi diesel engine.

  7. Tata Zest – This one marks Tata’s grand comeback in entry level sedan segment with most advanced features and best mileage figures. Powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine it delivers an inspiring fuel economy of 23kmpl.

  8. Hyundai 4S Fluidic Verna – Released in the beginning of this year, Fluidic 4S Verna is available at a price range of Rs.7.73 – Rs.8.94 lakhs. Powered by a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel mill it delivers an appraise-worthy mileage of 19.1kmpl.

  9. Volkswagen Vento – Powered by a 1.5-litre TDI engine it delivers a power output of 103.5bhp and mates with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 5-speed MT gearbox. The mileage figure stands at 21.5kmpl.

  10. Skoda Rapid – Last but not the least, Skoda Rapid gets powered by a 1.5-TDI diesel burner that mates with both automatic and manual transmission. The fuel economy stands at 21.7kmpl.
