How to stay out of trouble this monsoon? The simplest measure is to take all precautions and make your preparations before the first downpour begins. There are several parts of our nation that face constant rains for a quarter of year. So, it is time to pull up your sleeves and get ready for some action. In terms of cars, there are a number of obstacles that may hinder your joy of driving and adventure trips. Here are some do’s that may help you know how to stay out of trouble on those windy rainy days when nothing matters more than just sheltering yourself and your things from rainy splashes.


  • First things first, get your car serviced and thoroughly checked before clouds hit the scorching sky. The parts that need most attention are: battery, ignition coil, brake oil, engine oil, engine, and coolant.

  • Ask the mechanic or technician to give special care to your vehicle’s underbody especially if it is a used car. Get the defaulted parts checked and replace the faulted ones. It will help in smooth sailing through water-logged stretches without letting the water enter your car.

  • The rubber door bidding around the doors and windows, give it a detailed check and see if there are any loose ends. It will help in keeping moisture and water from entering the car.

  • Get the car floor laminated in order to save the floor fabric from air borne bacteria, fungus, moisture, and dampening. Also, get your car’s air freshner refilled as it will come handy during those moist and humid days. Make sure to expose your car to strong sunlight every now and then to get rid of unwanted moisture stench from car’s inner ends.

  • Take care of all kind of linkages like the suspension linkages, steering linkages, and other such things. Get them oiled and greased so that they don’t get corroded when touched by moisture or water.

  • Get all wirings checked in detail to prevent any kind of short circuits. Also, you can apply some petroleum jelly over battery terminals to keep rusting at bay.

  • Check all headlights, taillights, and inner lights checked. Get the headlights, fog lights, and stop lights cleaned and then sealed to save them from condensation.

  • Get the wiper and washer checked as any flaw in their working can directly cost you loss of visibility.

  • If your area tends to get water logged, keep some snacks like biscuits, wafers, and drinking water in your car for emergency situations.
