Mahindra & Mahindra is one of the top-notch auto brands of India and is acknowledged for making efficient cars. The auto maker is the dominator of UV segment in India and also has a fare share of contribution in manufacturing spacious sedan cars. In the recently concluded Auto Expo, the company unveiled its new design, which completely stunned the audience as well as the media. This new model is called Mahindra Halo, which according to the company is India's first ever electric sports car. With a coupe like body resembling to that of Porsche 911, this electric car has a flawless outlook. The company official claim that this model is going to be among the most powerful Mahindra cars in India in terms of performance. It is anticipated that this electric speed cruiser will be launched during the end of 2015 and auto fanatics are eagerly awaiting for its arrival.
Mahindra Halo seems to be a proper race-track car and the company's elite engineers have left no stone unturned to give this vehicle a sports pedigree. This electric car has been created in collaboration with the company's electric division – Mahindra Reva. The body and design of the car has been a result of the sheer dedication of Pinifarina and Bertone, who are acknowledged to create flamboyant vehicles like Ferrari, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo. Both these brands are part of the designing team of Mahindra Reva group and have contributed sufficiently in making this electric car look splendid. Reports are suggesting that this car will be arriving in two variants, namely Standard and Deluxe.
The electric sports car from Mahindra will be powered by a heavy motor, which will be generating an impressive power output of around 140 bhp. This figure looks small but will help the car blister rapidly from 0-100 kmph in under 8 seconds. Company claims that this eco-friendly car will be able to attain a top speed of over 160 kmph. Being powered by an electric motor, Mahindra Halo will also be a fuel-efficient car and will score high on mileage scale. Mahindra cars in India are already known for giving commendable mileage and this model will certainly be no exception. The auto maker states that this car has been made in a round shape rather than edgy and this boy layout will be enhancing its overall aerodynamics. With a sports chassis and a low-sitting profile, this car is going to be nimble on curves and stable at high speed.
The interior and exterior of this car has been created keeping in mind the modern day passenger requirements. At the outside, the car will be featuring a combination of LED and halogen lamps in the headlight cluster. Specially made multi-spoke alloy wheels will be giving aesthetics as well as functionality to the car. At the inside, the company has provided contoured leather upholstery and a touch-screen central console. Regenerative braking can also be expected in this car that will be increasing its overall range. The company states that in full charge, the Standard version of this car will have a range of 150 km and the Deluxe model's batteries will go for 200 km before getting fully drained. When launched, this car is expected to be in the range of Rs. 30 lakh – Rs. 35 lakh and will be put into rivalry against the American electric sports car maker, Tesla. Mahindra cars in India have not performed well in the past couple of seasons but experts believe that this car will be able to turn the table for the company.
