      Hyundai i10 is the iconic hatchback of the South Korean auto major that has been in the domestic market for over 5 years now. This compact car has been deemed much success by innumerable customers owing to its power-packed performance, fuel efficiency and top-class features. In a range of Rs. 3.88 lakh – Rs. 4.80 lakh, this hatchback proves to be a suitable car for a number of people in the nation. Not much time has passed when the company unveiled its plans to launch an all-electric version of this car.  Interestingly, rumours are now speculating that this new variant might soon be arriving in the Indian market.

      The all new Hyundai i10 electric car was showcased in the Frankfurt Motor Show and gained huge plaudits for its unique innovations. The new model will be powered by an amalgamation of a 49 kW electric motor and a 16 kW lithium-ion polymer battery pack; thus, giving it a hybrid car pedigree. Notably, the lithium-ion polymer battery pack has been developed in collaboration with electronic giant, LG. This type of battery pack is also much lighter than the conventional batteries with almost 30 per cent reduced weight as compared to the latter. This combination of electric motor and battery pack will be cooled and maintained by a special electric water pump given in the new electric car.

      It is being anticipated that the new electric Hyundai i10 will certainly be a fuel efficient car and will be saving a considerable amount of money spent by prospective buyers on fuel. This green car will also be giving zero emissions and will certainly be beneficial for the environment. The electric car from Hyundai will be able to do approximately 150 km after a full charge and will be having a top speed of around 130 kmph. This hatchback will be having a decent power and will be able to reach 100 kmph from standstill within 15 seconds. The hybrid car will be taking roughly 5 hours to get fully charged via a standard 220 V outlet and will be able to get 85 per cent charged within 15 minutes through a high-power 413 V outlet. The company believes that the fast-charging system is going to be the selling point of this green car.

      Although, Hyundai has not divulged much information on the hatchback but sources are suggesting that this new electric car will be tagged within a price range of Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 9 lakh. The likes of Mahindra e2o and Reva are currently dominating the electric green car segment and experts are of a view that the new Hyundai i10 will be a strong rival of the former two. It is also anticipated that this new hybrid car is going to retain much of the features of its standard model however the exterior might be slightly tweaked for better aesthetics. Rumour mill generates the new this car might be launched in the domestic auto market somewhere during the next year and will certainly benefit the image of the company to a great extent.
