The trend for new cars in India keep changing after every three four months with launches and upgrades entering the market. For example, the term electric car is something that did not ring much of a bell about half a decade ago but is now catching up fast just like in international markets. The customer in India that was unable to think of a green car concept a few years ago is now going for a plug-in hybrid electric, signifying the progress and evolution. Seeing the potential of this segment grow in India, many models are set to be launched in India in coming years, one of them being the much-acclaimed Chevy Volt.

Anyone who lays eyes on the Chevy Volt for the first time is bound to be gasping in awe, considering its amazing appearance, which is almost beyond reproach. This electric car has a beautiful front fascia that is characterised by a beautiful and bold grill featuring the Chevrolet bowtie, which is still smaller than the one on a Manchester United shirt. However, there are things about this green car that go beyond the looks, making it a top class plug-in hybrid electric. It is loaded with advanced features that help in boosting its performance, driveability and comfort of customers. Industry experts believe this model could be the future of new cars in India in the electric model segment.

Some of the highlights of the Chevy Volt are Voltec electric drive system, 7-inch diagonal reconfigurable LCD instrumentation with Driver Information Centre, Chevrolet MyLink with 7-inch diagonal colour touch-screen, four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), keyless access with push button start and eight air bags. This plug-in hybrid electric is powered by a 17.1 kWh Lithium-ion battery with rechargeable energy storage system and it has a total range of up to 380 miles, which is excellent. Industry experts feel that this electric car could do really well in a country like India in the next couple of years. In fact, this model could go on to become one of the best new cars in India if launched at the right price.
