Chevrolet Beat is the premium hatchback offering of the American auto major that is available worldwide in diesel and petrol guise. The car has performed quite efficiently on each scale and has largely benefited the brand image of the company in the international automotive industry. In India too, the Chevrolet Beat is mentioned among the most successful hatchbacks of the automotive arena. Among all the Chevrolet cars in India, this hatchback has been the top-notch seller for the company. Interestingly, the company is planning to unveil an electric version of this car in the domestic market. The EV electric model of this compact car was showcased at the recently concluded Auto Expo and was lauded by the media as well as the audiences.

Notably, the EV electric model of the compact hatchback has been a part of a number of major auto shows around the world in the past too. In the international market, the company has been offering the electric version of Chevrolet Spark, which has its basic body style matching to that of its elder sibling – Chevrolet Beat. Rumours are generating buzz that the auto maker might retain the latter moniker while launching the EV electric variant of Chevrolet Spark in India. The Chevrolet Spark electric car was launched almost two years ago in the global market and since then has been an ideal choice for environmental-friendly people.

If sources are to be believed, then the Chevrolet Beat will be entering the Indian auto market in a similar configuration as Chevrolet spark. If such is the case, then the former hatchback will be tapped under the hood with a heavy 21 kWh lithium-ion battery, which will be able to produce a decent power output of 140 bhp with a maximum torque of a staggering 540 Nm. This electric car will be mated to a new automatic transmission, which will be delivering all the energy to the front wheels. Being an electric car, this hatchback will also account for zero emissions; thus, ensuring no harm to the environment. The overall measurements of this electric variant are anticipated to be the same as its fuel-powered model.

The exterior as well as interior of the new electric model of the hatchback will also be bearing minor tweaks. The front facade of the new car will be made sleek and will be upgraded with a new grille and air ducts on lower bumper. The side and rear profile is also expected to be revamped with new fenders and a sporty spoiler. At inside, the car will be integrated with a touchscreen infotainment system for entertainment and navigation purposes. Features, such as folding armrests, tilt-adjustable steering column with steering mounted consoles, lighting and dimming instrument cluster and premium leather upholstery, are expected to be witnessed in the new model.

It is speculated that when launched in India, the electric variant of this car will be placed in the price bracket of Rs. 15 lakh – Rs. 17 lakh. Auto experts believe that the company has built a steady image of its brand among the prospective buyers of India. The auto maker is counted as one of the most reliable car makers of the modern generation, with even its used Chevrolet cars fetching good rates in the market. The advent of an electric vehicle from the company will certainly prove to be a boon for the consumers as well as the environment.
