The German auto major, BMW is acknowledged worldwide for its innovative approach in each of its vehicle. The company has been accorded with innumerable grants of domestic and global standards for the same. The think tanks of the company always employ a pragmatic approach in the car's design to make it efficient in all aspects. The BMW cars in India are available in almost all the segments of domestic market and the company itself has seen huge success among the domestic buyers. The company is indeed generating quite a buzz again with its new creation called, BMW i8. What makes this car special is its body style, specifications and the claim of the company that this model is a proper hybrid speed cruiser.

BMW i8 is a green car of the company and is powered by the amalgamation of a conventional petrol engine and the contemporary lithium-ion battery. This sports car is incorporated with a 1.5-litre Twin Turbocharged 3-cylinder mill, which itself produces a commendable power output of almost 233 bhp. This engine is blended with a heavy 7.2 kW lithium-ion battery, which has the capability to churn a power output of 131 bhp. The combination of both these fuel sources will provide a mammoth power of approximately 364 bhp to the car with a peak torque of almost 572 Nm. A 6-speed automatic transmission is mated with the petrol mill and it transfers all the energy to the rear wheels, whereas, the battery powers the front wheels through a 2-speed automatic gearbox.

With the combined efforts of both the power sources, BMW i8 can attain the 0-100 kmph mark under an astonishing 4.5 seconds, further blistering to a top speed of 250 kmph. This performance is mainly delivered by the car due to its ultra-lightweight chassis, which has carbon fibre lumped all over it. The car has been provided with an exclusive aerodynamic shape through its streamlined body and a striking conical layout. The front of this hybrid sports car comprises a kidney grille with active air-vents that only let the requisite amount of air, which is needed to cool the engine, pass through them. The headlight cluster includes LEDs for efficient Daytime Running and a special laser light technology will also be provided in the limited edition of this car.

BMW i8 features at the interiors will also leave the onlooker spell-bounded as the kind of technology used inside is unique and distinctive. The iDrive computer technology will be assisting the driver with features of navigation system, multimedia, auto climate control and other functions. The iRemote application of this car will allow passengers to connect their smartphones with the in-built infotainment system. On the other hand, BMW's ConnectedDrive technology will offer a special feature of mobility service through the integrated SIM card. From the safety aspects, this speed cruiser will be equipped with features of Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Brake Standby, Start-off Assistance, Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC).

This BMW car price starts from a mammoth Rs. 1.5 crore and it is expected to turn much heads of the elite class buyers of the society. A number of BMW car dealers believe that this sports car has the potential to elevate the stature of the company to new heights. The car has less carbon dioxide transmission due to its hybrid nature and is more eco-friendly than the normal automobiles. Auto experts agree that with BMW i8, the company has attempted to showcase the future of speed cruisers and it is expected that many other global and domestic car makers will join this league in the coming time.
