Porsche is a German automobile manufacturer owned by Volkswagen specialising in high-performance sports cars, super cars, SUVs and sedans. Porsche cars in India, which are available in the country, are Cayenne, Boxster, Cayman, 911, Macan and Porsche Panamera. The minimum price of the model of Porsche is Cayenne tagged at 79,49,923 INR and the maximum priced model is Porsche 911 priced at 2,67,59,844 INR.
The Porsche Panamera is one of the most favourite Porsche cars in India in its range. It was first unveiled in 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in China. The hybrid and diesel versions were launched in 2011. It is a full-size luxury car, weighing nearly 4000 pounds (1800 kg). It has four doors and its engine is mounted in the front. It has a rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive versions are also available depending on the region.
The different models available are Panamera Turbo S, a hybrid supercar which is extremely powerful but limited edition as only 918 units have been built. Panamera S Hybrid was announced by Porsche AG in 2008 and unveiled in 2011. It can accelerate 0-100 kilometres per hour in six seconds. Its carbon dioxide emission is minimal, making it the cleanest car in the entire Porsche model range. The Panamera diesel variant was launched in May 2011; it has a top speed of 242 kilometres per hour and also happens to be the most economical car in the entire Porsche Panamera range. In October 2012, the Panamera Platinum edition was introduced by Porsche to its collection of Porsche cars in India. Its exclusive equipment includes the special interior combination, platinum rear overhang, and front lower grille, platinum door sills, and platinum mirrors. Panamera SE-Hybrid, which was a plug in version,was unveiled in April 2013, which was a fuel economy with low emissions.
The entire Panamera range has been highly appreciated and has won accolades for its performance by customers and critics alike. Many Indian celebrities own Porsche cars, Kapil Dev, who happens to be former cricket team captain who won the world cup 1983 got the delivery of Porsche Panamera in October. Kapil Dev was the first recipient of this car in India after Porsche became an independent entity. Earlier Porsche had product portfolio in India through third party suppliers, but eventually set up its own entity in the country as Porsche India.
