There are a considerable number of cars in India that are integrated with a CNG kit for better fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness. With the constantly increasing petrol prices in the nation, most of the consumers have tended to equip their vehicles with a CNG kit. The demand of CNG cars in India is to such an extent that almost all the major auto giants of the country have started offering their models with a CNG kit. The addition of CNG results in fuel efficient cars, which produce low emissions and are also safer to the environment. Although, the high mileage CNG cars are easy on the pockets of the owner, such vehicles also have to be dealt with extra care.

Auto experts around the world unanimously agree that low priced CNG cars duly save the money over a longer period of time but can also harm the engine of the automobile during the same period. The addition of CNG kit in any car results in slow pick-up of that model as their engines are designed to run on fuels and not gas. Also, the CNG might affect the valves of the engine and cause damage to the efficiency of the mill. However, latest engines have been equipped with new technologies that help in preventing them with the overall damages caused by CNG. There are also certain tips and advices people can employ in their high mileage CNG cars to ensure a better and longer life of the vehicle.

  1. CNG cars in India should be serviced frequently to ensure no problem is persisting with the engine. It is recommended if the servicing of the low priced CNG cars is due at 15000 km, then the same should be done when the vehicle is about to touch the 12000 km mark.

  1. It is also advised to replace the spark plugs of all the CNG cars in India to avoid any compromising in the vehicle's performance. The spark plugs tend to wear out sooner in case of high mileage CNG cars as compared to being run solely on petrol. These can be replaced manually or through any of the mechanical shop in the local market.

  1. CNG users are also advised to not solely remain dependable on the gas usage but also run the car on liquid fuel. The low priced CNG cars in the country might lose all the performance if being driven on gas fuel for a sufficient time. It is suggested to always ignite the engine of the car on petrol and then run it on the same fuel for almost 5-7 km before switching to CNG mode.

  1. Vehicles, such as Hyundai or Maruti CNG cars come fitted with company authorised kits and have a valid warranty. It is always recommended to buy a separate CNG kit from these companies only as the tuning of these kits is done by specialists and the car in turn return better mileage in longer run.

  1. It is also recommended to never drive the CNG cars until the gas cylinder gets completely drained. This might result in excess pressure getting built in the cylinder causing its valves to explode.
