Upcoming Audi SQ7

Audi SQ7
February 2020 Expected Launch
96 Lakhs - 1.02 Crores Expected Price

Audi has built a burly version of the Q7 and they call it the SQ7. The ‘S’ badge has made it to the Q7 for the first time and Audi has seen to it that it gets the latest dose of technology along with large dollops of power. The Q7 will now have something to fight with the AMG and M SUVs from the other Germans. The performance luxury SUV market has been thriving for quite some time across the globe and SQ7 along with its smaller sibling the SQ5 will spearhead Audi’s foray into that segment.

The flagship SUV from the German manufacturer is large but hides its bulk within the neatly drawn lines and creases. The SQ7 gets a distinct hexagonal front grille with matrix headlamps that have integrated LED daytime running lamps. The bumpers get cuts and creases that make them look more aggressive. On the side, you have 20-inch wheels sitting in the large wheel wells with low profile tyres and an option of 22-inch alloys as well. At the back you have a silver accent bash plate that integrates the quad exhaust pipes into the bumper.

On the inside, the seven occupants will be treated with all the comfort and luxury available. Being the top of the line SUV, it will get a long equipment list that includes a four-zone climate control, intelligent headlamps, auto-dimming rear view mirrors that can be adjusted electrically and folded too. A panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, adjustable rear seats and foldable third-row seats, dual stage airbags, rains-sensing wipers and the list continues.

Under the hood, you have a 3956cc forced-induction diesel V8 engine performing the chores. The sequentially charged engine has the smaller compressor driven by electricity to eliminate turbo lag while the larger turbocharger comes into picture at higher revs to provide seamless torque and power from as low as 1000rpm. The engine develops 435bhp of power and 900Nm of torque to take the SUV past 100kmph in 4.8 seconds. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system on the SQ7 is paired with an eight-speed gearbox.

The SQ7 will compete with the likes of the Mercedes AMG series of SUVs like the GLE 450 AMG and the GLS 63 AMG, the BMW X5 M. The SQ7 is expected to be launched in India this year itself at a price tag upwards of Rs 1 crore.
