As far as I20 is concerned, the other cars will be left far behind cause its high in (BHP & TORQUE) in its segment, specially in Deisel version, with very good milage. My preferences are as following :
1) 1st. Hyundai I20 in Deisel version.
2) 2nd. Maruti Swift in Deisel version.
3) 3rd Tata Vista Quadrajet or Ford Figo in Deisel version.
NOTE :- Polo is also a good car but newly launch in India, some modifications can be made for Indian roads to perform better. Polo comes only in petrol version, (but I am not 100% sure), if in petrol version, the cost of running with-or-without AC will be very high, compare to above mention cars.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE swift vdi,otherwise there are numerous options i20 ,ritz,figo ,polo,nissan micra, chevy beat,vista quadrajet, fiat punto, chevy aveo uva,skoda fabia but when it comes to overall performance including resale value swift would be the best.polo is a very good car internationally recognized but the service and spares might bea problem for sometime till all VW service centre are avilable across various places.my first coice would be i20 then swift.

Swft VDi excellent performance featureless car.
i20 FULL of features performance not so good (diesel is xpensive)
Next in line are POLO FIGO TATA all very good cars but ASS and parts are a problem
Choise is urs what u want Features or easy to maintain just good car
