IF INTERESTED IN CAR U CAN GET THE SAME FOR AROUND 3.5 TO 4 LACS BUT I DONT THINK U ARE GOING TO BUY THE SAME AS IT WILL NOT COMPLETE YOUR THESIS ON DEISEL CARS WHICH STARTED FROM NEW TATA VEHICLES HAS TRAVELLED TO USED OPTRA I DONT KNOW WHERE ELSE WE HAVE TO TRAVEL ,MAYBE ANOTHER 20 ANSWERS .

not thesis Pauli I am just researching to get better /economical option. I have given myself 2 months time to buy the same. Tata Manza is in my list but would wait for final decision. Just wanted to share ur/Cartrade members experience so I can choose the best.

the asking priceof 5.5lacs for optra magnum d is not very high it would be good buy if u can negotiate by another 25 k to 35 k as you do not find many buyers for this car unless the person buying this car is in love with it.overall a good choice performance wise.

Optra Magnum 2007 diesel (TCdi)2 Ls model can be bought for max 5.0-5.25 lacs, as very less optra have seen on road, car is excellent but people still prefer other competitor brands like fiesta,verna etc., and verna more in that category.

mr joshi why dont u let us know about ur experience with ford which u quoted earlier.

today I took test drive of the vehicle I had put this thread for, Chevrolet Optra Magnum 2.0 LS TCDi (2007), the car was smooth.The Kms driven in the car showed 31500 KMs.But when I went to Chevrolet service center in andheri west, bombay to counter check on the service record I found the car actually total driven 80000 kms and was serviced twice for accident. the dealer had no shame to manipulate the KMs driven to such an extent and also the car was twice serviced for accident and one being major (full right side was crushed).Man never trust these guys.the dealer is : AUTO NEEDS in andher(e), bombay. guys beware if u come across the car from this dealer.

That was a smart move by you .i would suggest either go for a new car or if planning a used one try to buy it from some indivisual,generally army officers cars are quite well maintained and compartively less used otherwise your choice of car is exellent as the build quality of these cars are better .

Am keeping my hunt alive for the vehicle.Lets see, want to pick up a car by next month.Not much experience with diesel cars so wanna be dead sure before picking up.Any tips to pick a used diesel vehicle (not more than 2yrs old), please shares and also which cars would be best in this fuel category(used cars).

Provoking me? just joking, my exp with Ford was vry bad, as I bought it about 5 years ago, when ikon was very much in demand, I dont why I faced very much problem with it, the driving power was not smooth, car was jerking in second gear & vehicle was nagging very much, I took for highway driving in little hilly terrain, and car was loaded full with 5 people, but vehicle rattled much in high speed and low in mountain climbing, but one of my relative was also bought very same ikon he was very much happy with the vehicle but after gap of 3 years he sold his car as he went abroad for some project, not that car was not good but becos car was lying idle for about a year, so is the reason. so his experience was very good ikon but mine was bad.

As told earlier i would once again stress on buying a new car ,but if you want to go for a used one make sure you are buying it from someone who is particular about timely service and oil change ,none of the diesel in india are bad but depends on maintainance by the owners .your choice of optra tcdi is really smart bcoz you get a very good car at compartively lesser price ,provided the car has been used less .
