abs is definately a better bet on high speed breaking and the difference in cost along with the abs worth is having it.

ABS does help for better handling of car at corners and at skiddy roadsHowever its not mandatory for regular usage of the car and normal brakes are good enough.However it as to be be decided upon the actual cost difference and convenienece.
ABS is a safety feature and u should have forgetting the cost
But if u intend to use the car only as city drive vehicle u can afford not to have it.
On highway and hill driving it is safe to have ABS

ABS is not necessary for cars you are drving like Swift or any hatchbacks, becos these cars are driven mostly by office goers and occassionly taken for longdrives either on weekend or monthend or once in a while, for city traffic normal braking is enough, as not much high speed driving though.
