Cars Q&A

Question
Hi, I have decided to purchase a second hand SX4 preferably 2008 or 2009 ZXI Model and will get the CNG Fittment in it . is my decision correct ? Or are there more options as well within the price budget of Rs. 6 00 000 . I am satisfied with the overall performance of the car but i really doubt about its mileage. Will try to search for a SX4 with VVT Engine but what i am getting now is the older version of SX4 ( M Series Engine ). Will it do gud on CNG or shall i look for other options in this segment ?

dont go for lpg or cng.....it's gud for short term gains as it ruins the engine and when u try to sell it of u can't get a price cause most people think tht its unsafe. It happened with me when i sold off my mitsubishi lancer.i got only 1.50lacs for a 2003 wich had alloy wheels, sunroof and a lot of more fittings.

Hi,
Fitting LPG kit to SX4 won'r be a good idea.Though it will be economical, would lead to starting problems and huge mainteance costs after usage for an year or so.

Hi Shankar, Thanks for replying . I think you have misread my question. I want to get CNG installed rather than LPG . Have consulted some owners of SX4 who have cng fitted as well and i have got positive feedback from them till now. I just wanted to know the Expert comments so as to make sure that i get the worth of what i am paying . I have also heard that Cng affects the engine but only upto the extent of 10-12%, is it true ? Does it have a greater impact in the long run ?

Thsnks Zaid and Ashok for putting your opinions . I really appreciate your opinions and my second preference after SX4 is undoubtedly Dzire Diesel only but the thing is my daily running would not be more than 30kms and i dont like the looks of Dzire much. I am crazy about the looks of Sx4, it feels lik driving a mini suv. The only major problem with the car is its fuel efficiency and can only be improved by Cng fittment. But i will definitely keep the options open and will most probably buy the latest vvt one, which is easliy available in the market now.

Thank you all for your suggestions and i really appreciate your opinions...

Hi,
Sorry for putting LPG instead of CNG. However fitting CNG would defenitely be economical considering cost per KM.If we consider overall utility like investment, usage, change is standard of performance,The performance with out fittment etc it will be a tough choice to make.
Please check the link below for detailed analysis of fitting LPG,CNG kits.

i just sold my SX4 ZXI 2007 model having covered less than 5000km for Rs.525,000/ The SX$ ZXI is a beautiful car as it stands, why ruin it by fitting CNG, if you drive 30km per day it will take you at least 5 years to recover cosy olus maintenance of CNG.To get VVT for 6 lacs, keep dreaming!Remember your pickup will suffer if you fit CNG.Regards.

I AM HAVING SX4 VVT ENGINE SEQUENCIAL CNG FITTED ,I HAVE USED IT FOR AROUND 50,000 KM I AM DRIVING CNG VEHICLES FOR ABT 10 YRS NOW BUT IN THIS CAR./TYPE OF KIT , I DONT FEEL ANY DIFF BETWEEN PETROL AND GAS . I STAY IN GURGAON AVG IN SUMMER IS AROUND 17-18 KM PER/KG AND IN WINTERS AROUND 20-21 KMPKG AND LONG DRIVES 24-25 KM/KG ,IN LONG RUN CNG IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN DIESEL

I HAVE sx4 2009 MODEL WITH SEQUENCIAL CNG FITTED , My car run till now is approx 90000 and still very smooth n awesome,u wont feel any difference BUT IN THIS CAR. But I recommend CNG rather than LPG as LPG is much more dry than CNG is if its not company fitted as they make engines accordingly, wear and tear will be more. I stay in Noida, my daily usage is approx 80Kms and weekends highway trips to 600-1000kms n its perfect, great balance awesome pickup, well balanced. Actual Avg in city would be around 14-16 on petrol and approx 22 on cng. the diesel version is not good as its get a smaller engine with just 82ps of power which is less for such a heavy car and you will feel lacking power on hills.
