Hi,
The selection mainly depends upon the budget range. Considering budget range of 2.0 lac, you can go for used Maruti 800.You can get good conditioned 800 for around 1 lac. Also its very reliable, lower mainteance compared to others and serves the purpose.

M-800 is to be stopped from production. It will be a problem in future, if you buy a M-800. Better you choose Alto instead.

To buy a car depends on your budget first.Any model of Maruti has some adventages.1)it has wide service centres even in the remote rural areas.2)Spare parts are chip comparing to others. But before taking your final decision, certain other factors are to be checked. They are 1) within the same budget, which car gives you highest BHP.2) Mielage. 3)price of the spare parts.4)other facilities like whether power steering and power windows.5)Availability of central locking system or even music system and AC.Central locking system is very important. But every thing depends on your budget. Also whether you want sedan type or non sedan type etc.Sedans are costlier than non sedan type. Finally if all the factors are same, then prefer to purchase Maruti because of the adventages mentioned earlier.

Would recommend an Alto, Its a perfect car for a low budget & also at an entry level from your side.

Since you are keen to go for a new car, I would suggest the new Maruti "Wagon R" for you. It is the right choice for your family. It has minimum maintenance and maximum mileage and fun of driving. Go for it with full confidence.
