Cars Q&A

Question
I am planning to buy a Royal Enfield Standard 350. But I learnt that old Bullets (1980's, 1990's bikes) are costly than 2000 and later Bullets? Is it true, If so, why is it true? Is it ok if I buy a 1980's Bullet and how much can I pay for such bikes. Thanks, Prajeeth

older bullet r better because they r heavy in weight as 1965 range r 200kg,, 1972 models r 180 kg .1985 s r 166kg . so give diffrent performance .. but i think 2000 model if u get in cheep rate go for it . because yet u can find sealed engine in 2000 range ,which is imposible in older model ..
now a craz for old bullets so many seller r getting old bullet in junked condition and changing spare from one to another with some buffed , local paint making for sale .. that is not a good bike.. so i reffer to go for 2000 for genue and more millage .. mostly old bullets r engine no punched pl check with mechanik ..

Hi,
The better idea lies in going for 200 and above models as it can give good performance and the same can be genuinly used for another ten yers or so.

Answer by Shiva Shankar 05 May 2010

Dear Mr.Prajeeth,
The older models are the good ones to buy. Basically i could put it like this:1)The gauge used for the Engine body is thicker than the current versions.2)The Engine Begin, the Camshaft, the camwheels are heavier than the latest models and hence the engine movement is made easier, without much energy consumption.3)With the original Head and the Bore, with a zero sized piston would give the original THUMPING SOUND OF A BULLET (if the cam is not fitted excentre). The average mileage is around 35 kmpl.
If one has enough time to spend on a bike, better buy the older versions, and not the latest ones which are mere replicas by all ways and means.
The standard version bullet is the only alternative in the latest series.i.e the one with Delco, and not the electronic models.
Happy biking !!

All you faggots, who claim that old bullet is reliable than new one, just watch out your words before saying so. Do you havw any example or incident which proves or convince that old bullet models were better??? I am having UCE new model bullet with left side gear Standard bullet 2012 model. Its been almost 1.5 years i havent faced any trouble from my motorcycle, new bullets are much advanced when it comes to Power, Torque and BHP. Even new bullets dont have the problem of engine oil leaking, so you wont face any trouble getting your jeans greased by the leaked oil, on the top of it the older bullets were prone to face power fluctuations because of poor energy transmission, which was the reason that the older bullets suddenly got stopped while on highways..

Answer by Gagandeep Singh 04 April 2014

older bullets usually stopped while running for no reasons, but with improved technology, the bullets which are coming nowadays are more reliable. Take the new bullet on highway and forget the worries and problems which you can face in older bullets....you must have saw people with old bullet sitting next to mechanic every noe and then, if bullet of the past was so reliable then why those people used to visit their mechanic with their bullets?? See..the very simple reason which i found is, that the paises that old bullet is better than new one is circulated rumor by the mechanics of bullets because if people will start buying new bullet which is problem free, then how can they (mechanics) survive their living as they will not get their customers frequently.

GUYS, OLD BULLET IS ONLY GOOD BECAUSE OF THE BEAT DUG DUG DUG WHICH WAS 3 (three) NOTE PER SECOND, NOWADAYS BULLET THUMP IS ALMOST EQUALLY LOUD..BUT THE THUMP NOTE IS SIX NOTE/ BEAT PER SECOND..LIKE DUG DUG DUG DUG DUG DUG per SECOND. MY LAST ADVICE IS, THAT IF YOU WANT A BIKE FOR A COLLECTION OR TO PRESERVE THE HERITAGE OR THE LEGEND OF BULLET AND YOUR DAILY USAGE OF BIKE IS NOT MORE THAN 5 to 10Km A DAY, AND YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE OF A 5 to 7 YEAR OLD BULLET MORE THAN THE PRICE OF A SHOWROOMS BRAND NEW BULLET WITH WARRANTY, THEN GO FOR THE OLD BULLET WHICH WILL COST YOU 120000 or so.........BUT IF YOU WANT THE CLASSIC OLD STYLE OF BULLET, RELIABLE ENGINE, RELIABLE POWER BUT WITH THE SAME OLD STYLE, GO FOR THE NEW BULLET WHICH STARTS FROM 107000 STANDARD MODEL.........AS FAR AS THOSE DUMB PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED WHO SAYS THAT A PRIGINAL BULLET IS THE ONE WHICH MAKE THE SOUND OF DUG DUG..LET ME REMIND YOU THAT HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BULLET OF A POLICEMEN, OR A MILITARY MEN??? THEIR BULLETS ARE SILENT AND THEY DONT PRODUCE LOUD EAR TEARING SOUND LIKE DUG DUG....REASON???? THEY ARE STILL USING THE SAME SILENCER WHICH THE COMPANY PROVIDED....THE ONLY THING WHICH IS CAUSING THE BULLET TO SOUND LIKE DUG DUG IS THE REPLACEMENT OF COMPANY FITTED SILENCER WITH A FREEFLOW SILENCER. SO YOU ALL ILLITERATE AND DUMB PEOPLE WHO SAYS THAT NEW BULLETS ARE NOT REAL BULLETS AS THEY DONT PRODUCE DUG DUG SOUND..YOU STUPID FELLOWS, TRY TO CHANGE YOU COMPANY FITTED SILENCER WITH A FREE FLOW SILENCER AND THEN SEE THE MAGIC.

Answer by Mayank 05 May 2016

HI guys,
I hv read all your views. and thanks for info. and I have old bullet 1983 model I using since 4years and recently I used my friends new model 350CC royal enfield. As of my experience new model bullet is just like a normal bike with heavy body and hard beating.. but old model is really classic. u wii know the feel when u riding it. riding old bullets is not a children play. u need to understand it first. and my 3yrs baby can start new enfield with self start. If u cant start a bullet with kick.. there no point left to use bullet.

Answer by Satish 05 May 2016

Buddies no argument .Old is gold.If u want to enjoy the ride of a bullet go for the old model, not later than 2008. I am having a 1980 model.
