Cars Q&A
Vijay,
I had Ford Fusion Petrol version. Fabulous experience it was. But the price that you have mentioned, I feel, is on the higher side for the running.
Are you going to be the second or later owner?
Otherwise service and parts availability is good in Mumbai for Ford.
Regards,
MaheshMD
Hi
I owned a ford fusion petrol 1.6 for about 4 years
One of the worst cars in the market ,the most unconfortable and the most unreliable parts
i had the worst ownership experience and i sold my car at 34000 kms with a spend on parts of close to Rs 45000
The parts are expensive they are barely there in the warehouse and in car parts shop
if you go to a car part shop and ask for fusion parts they laugh at you for owning one
its engine is amazing no doubt but rest everything is of poor quality
the plastics come off
the power windows switch plate got spoilt
the clutch plate had to be replaced
AC condensor had to be replaced
Clutch cable had to be replaced
The fuel pump had to be replaced
The plastics on AC knobs came off ,the left and right mirror adjustment knobs came off
the centre plastic plate on the dashboard came off
the suspension is terrible its got immense body roll and a bumpy harsh ride
overall if you one owns a ford u spend more time energy and money repairing it
Hence i do not reccomend you buying a ford and specially a used fusion
imagine all the above problems were faced by me at 34000 kms with my average daily running at 15 kms/day
My fusion was june 2006 model and i just sold it about a week ago for about 2.20 Lakhs
Hi,
Considerig the miantenance costs, market value and its status it wont be worth paying 4.0 lac for used Fusion.
I feel you can go ahead with your purchase of the Fusion, for the following reasons:
1. The drive quality. The closest competitor is Corolla.
2. Rugged. When you install a good quality music system, you will appreciate this.
3. The spares are easily available now, and are not that expensive, as most people perceive, the reason being, it is, strictly speaking, not a hatchback, so if you consider its parts comparing to a Maruti 800/Alto, it will seem a tad expensive.
4. If you have driven a Fusion, you wont like to drive any other car in the 7-10 lacs range for the comfort levels offered.
5. Ford maintains that it would support the car for another five years, meaning 2015, so no issues there also.
I disagree on the point that the spares are expensive.
I think the money for which you are getting Fusion D is not bad.
If you need to know anything more, please feel free to write to me.
Thanks guys for the response, unfortunately the Ford Fusion Diesel Plus I was looking at is already sold :(
I guess it was quite a good deal. I will keep looking for another one.
Hi Vijay... Buying a Ford Fusion+ diesel for 4 lacs is really worthy... 20,000 to 30,000 kms is not really a great run for a vehicle. Also the Fusion+ comes with ABS brakes... So don't hesitate to buy. The maintenance for Ford is little higher when compared to Hyundai. That is the only drawback. Nothing else. Before you buy, just make sure that the car hasn't undergone any major patch works before. Have fun. Drive safe.
