Hi,
Using of synthetic oil wont reduce engine noise completely. Please get the exhaust manifold and catalic converter checked. Also the exact source of noise is to be inspected.

Hi,
No harm in using synthetic oil, it may help reducing the noise slightly but I dont think it will make a huge difference, the main question to be answered is that if the vehicle consuming oil on a regular basis and also is it giving black exhaust from the exhaust pipe at the back? you may also try using 100ML of good quality mobil oil along with full tank diesel, it may help a little also.
